Beginning Level Group Classes

All beginner classes are for one (1) hour in length each session.  There are four classes, which represent four (4) hours of tuition.

The first week, you will primarily work on correct posture, dance frame, basics in leading and following, four directions of movement, five basic foot positions, resistance techniques and body mechanics.  You will also start to learn the Waltz basic steps.

Steps are just a means to an end and are not designed to make you a great dancer!  It is how you execute the steps that is the important thing.

The second week, you will review previous material then commence to Rumba.  Different rhythm is extremely important in your learning, so I prefer to start as early as possible.

The third week, you will review again and then follow with Swing and/or Foxtrot.  Foxtrot is the 'get acquainted' dance because it really is like taking a walk in the park and having a chat at the same time.

Swing is the "fun" dance that is associated more than most with having a great time.  It is up tempo, lively and of course lots of fun!

The fourth week is really a consolidation and firm up of the things you have already learned in the class so far, and a preparation of the future classes.

Four hours is not a lot of time, especially in a group situation, but you will learn a tremendous amount and it can be a good start for some people, especially those who find it hard to commit to regular private lessons.

I look forward to meeting and teaching you all!
